Texas Water Development Board approves $7,645,037 to the City of Garland (Dallas County) for a water meter replacement project

AUSTIN – (February 25, 2019) – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) today approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $7,645,037, consisting of a $6,670,000 loan and $975,037 in loan forgiveness, from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the City of Garland (Dallas County). The City will use the assistance for a water meter replacement project.

In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $615,000 by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

With the assistance approved today, the City will replace approximately 42,000 water meters. The project will help to ensure proper metering, while conserving energy and providing timely data needed for system operations. 

The TWDB is the state agency charged with collecting and disseminating water-related data, assisting with regional planning, and preparing the state water plan for the development of the state's water resources. The TWDB administers cost-effective financial assistance programs for the construction of water supply, wastewater treatment, flood control, and agricultural water conservation projects.
